WEC Lightweight Champion “Razor” Rob McCullough stepped in the cage for the first time in eight months, stopping UFC veteran Rich Crunkilton in the main event. Crunkilton came out aggressive on his feet, throwing hard kicks to the body and mixed with punches. Rob kept his composure and attacked at the perfect time with lightening fast combinations and thunderous right hand. Razor dropped Rich 3 times before the ref called a stop to the action @ 1:29 seconds of the first round. Razor retains his title and will defend later this year.

ERIN TOUGHILL: DAMSEL OF DESTRUCTION
Great new interview with Erin came out on MaxBoxing.com and Doghouseboxing.com. Click here to read it!
Interview by "Big Dog" Benny Henderson Jr.

TOUGHILL DOMINATES SMACK GIRL, BUT DQ'd IN FINAL
Smack Girl’s 2004 World ReMix took place this past Sunday in Tokyo, Japan. The top female mixed martial arts event in the world was dominated by one woman, Erin Toughill. Despite her performance, Toughill ended up losing the tournament in the final bout.

Toughill blazed a path through the 8-woman tournament. She defeated Miwako Ishihara in her first fight in just 27 seconds of the first round when Ishihara’s corner was forced to throw in the towel.

Next up was a woman that was highly regarded as one of the top two or three female fighters in the world, if not number one. Coming into the fight with a perfect 11-0 record, Marlos Coenen lost by TKO when she couldn’t continue after Toughill used a flurry of punches to knock her down. Coenen did beat the ten-count, but did not want to continue.

In the finals, Toughill was dominating Megumi Yabushita before things got a little heated and she dropped a couple of elbows to Yabushita’s back. The referee gave Toughill a yellow card or warning. Yabushita claimed that she was unable to continue due to the elbows, so the fight was stopped and Toughill was disqualified, giving the tournament win to Yabushita.

For her part, Toughill commented on the Underground Forum at MMA.tv giving her side of the story while acknowledging her part in the disqualification. “Ms. Yabushita resorted to hanging on to my… glove and trying to twist my arm around several times. Which, [by the way], is illegal… She did this one time and also attempted it again. Instead of complaining - I lost my cool and also did something illegal,” said Toughill.

Even though Toughill defeated her about three and a half years ago, Yabushita was awarded the win this time and over $25,000 in prize money.

Erin beats Cassandra Geigger via unanimous decision over 8 rounds @ Sam's Town Casino in Tunica, Mississippi July 31st. They were the semi-main event on an 8 fight card. This bout was televised on CSI and will be shown periodically throughout the year. The first round was slow starting as both were trying to get their punches going. Erin wins the first but Geigger wins the second by going forward and pushing Toughill back. But Toughill pressed the action beginning the third round and landed mean shots that appeared to take their toll. Toughill also landed effective right hands to the head and effective shots to the body. Toughill also got off a number of combinations. Both weighed in @ 170 lbs. Erin improves to 5-1-1 Geigger falls to 6-3 (6 KO's)

Erin was to fight multiple belt holder and world boxing champion Anne "Brown Sugar" Wolfe in a 6 round (non title fight) in Kinder, Louisiana on Feb. 7th 2004. We were given less then 3 weeks to go against a very tough opponent - but jumped at the opportunity.

Mia St. John fought Regan Pudwill and beat her via UD in 4 rounds. Sunshine Fettkether fought Eliza Olson to a 10 round majority draw. These ladies fought their hearts out!! And what about Erin's fight...? Well, Anne Wolfe (16-1 11 KO's) pulled out RIGHT BEFORE the fight due to an "illness". We are not sure what this "illness" was. All we know is that we came a long way to fight - and now there was no opponent. We hope Anne gets better and we look forward to fighting this year!

Erin will have pictures up this week of the weigh-ins w/ Wolfe and the rest of the girls - along w/ some great action shots!
